your SWEET & SIMPLE NEWBORN session...

It is almost time to welcome your new little one into the world, which means, it is almost time for your newborn session!

Here are some helpful tips to make sure our time together goes smoothly.

Please be sure to follow the tips as closely as you can and I am always here to answer any questions you may have!

A well fed baby is a happy sleepy baby! If you live near my studio please feed your baby prior to coming. If you live more than 20 minutes away, you may want to wait and feed the baby when you get here. Either way, please plan on bringing extra milk in a bottle with you. Newborn sessions tend to make babies hungry and you will need to feed them to put them back to sleep.

Make sure you get a good burp in! A baby with gas is not a happy baby and can result in lots of crying.

Plan to put your little one in a very loose sleep gown, zip up/snap pajamas. This way it will be easy for me get them undressed without too much disturbance.

Be sure to pack the following items in your diaper bag:

*pacifier (a must for soothing babies back to sleep)

*extra outfit for the baby

* warm swaddle blanket

*snacks and drinks for while you watch :)

Once your little one is full and ready to go, I can take over.  I may ask for a hand for spotting, but otherwise, please plan to sit back, relax, and watch me work. I am a mother of two and I know just how tiring those first few weeks can be.

Newborns photograph beautifully while sleeping. In order to get those perfect sleepy newborn shots, our studio is often heated to 80 degrees during the session and we use space heaters, heating pads, blankets and noise machines to get your baby into that happy, sleepy state.

When doing the poses where the baby is undressed, it is normal (and okay!) for their to be "accidents". I can assure you this happens all the time and I will not upset or offended. I have wipes and towels on hand for this purpose. After each newborn session, I launder all of our backdrops and other items the baby comes in contact with with baby “safe” detergent and hot water.

Please know that there is no rush with a newborn session. I like to give special attention to each client, especially newborn sessions. Most newborn sessions last about 2 hours. Please know that I do not mind waiting for you to feed, change or taking a break to soothe your baby.  I am in no rush!
